EKC Sheppey Junior College

Our Student Awards bring together the entire College community, offering an opportunity to celebrate and recognise the triumphs of students from every department.

In 2026, Junior College students were recognised for their progress, including Terry, who won our ‘Engineering Excellence’ award.

EKC Sheppey Junior College students have the opportunity to take part in unique projects, to showcase their new skills, test their learning and make memories for life.

Our Junior College students recently used the Engineering workshops to build a soapbox vehicle, based on cartoons, which was then entered in a Group-wide
cross-College Soapbox Derby.

Junior College students specialise in a subject area they enjoy and will work towards a qualification in either Digital or Engineering studies, alongside gaining essential English and Maths GCSE qualifications.

English and Maths are a fundamental part of their educational experience and we are dedicated to ensuring they progress with the qualifications they need.

Students learn within a safe environment, with distinct lanyards so they are easily identified as pre-16 learners.

Our purpose-built Junior College area is located next door to the main College, with its own dedicated entrance, classrooms, breakout spaces and toilets.

Making decisions about the future can feel like a big step, but your young person doesn’t have to do it alone.

Focused transition activities will prepare them for their College journey so that they know what to expect and how it may be different from school or home schooling.

Tutorials and workshops throughout the year, teach students life skills, social skills and other skills that will set them up for a successful future.

Our Junior College students this year have engaged in safety talks from speakers such as local charities and Kent Police.

Trips, activities and events are held throughout the College year to ensure all students get the best out of their learning experience.

Trips last year included a visit to an RAF Museum and the EKC Canterbury Spring Lane Campus, where students took part in bridge building and teamwork sessions with other  students across Kent.

From taking part in social action projects to making a difference to other students, there’s always something to get involved with at EKC Sheppey Junior College.

Our first cohort of Junior College students created history eby placing our time capsule in our new extension.

When students join EKC Sheppey Junior College, they automatically become part of our Students’ Union.

Our Student Experience Officer is on-hand to support the Students’ Union and provide exciting opportunities for students during their time at College.
