EKC Sheppey Junior College
A hands-on opportunity for learners aged 14-16, to specialise in either Digital or Engineering courses.
EKC Sheppey Junior College is a provision for learners aged 14 who know that they would like to specialise in vocational areas.
As well as building their skills in these areas they will study GCSE Maths and English and gain a qualification in Digital or Engineering.
Junior College applications will be open in December.
You must be in Year 9 when applications are open to apply.
Engineering Projects that have shaped Sheppey
Dockyard Church
Thanks to a team involving engineers and extensive engineering efforts, the Church has now been transformed into a community hub, with reconstructed features,
Sheerness Clocktower
Engineers carefully took apart the clocktower, transported it to a workshop, and actioned extensive repairs, including recasting the damaged cast-iron components and restoring the clock’s mechanical mechanisms.
Port of Sheerness
Thanks to engineers, it has been undergoing significant upgrades to enhance its capacity and efficiency.
A team are currently constructing a new floating pontoon supported by steel that is driven deep into the riverbed.
Wind Power on the Island
Civil Engineers designed and constructed strong foundations to support the turbines, whilst Electrical Engineers installed the necessary infrastructure to connect them to the national grid.
Kingsferry Bridge
Engineers replaced 40 critical cables that are essential for the bridge’s lifting mechanism, whilst ensuring that it is strong enough to continue to have both road and rail traffic.
