The Isle of Sheppey is a small Island off the North Kent Coast, but has a lot to offer. Here are some of the things you could do and explore on the Isle whilst studying at EKC Sheppey College.
Sightseeing
Beaches at Leysdown, Minster Leas and Sheerness have boasted ‘Blue Flags’ and ‘Seaside Awards’ from ‘Keep Britain Tidy’. Thanks to their stunning views and pristine sands, visitors flock to these beaches year after year to catch their fill of British sun and sea.
You could also take a trip into the high street, to see the famous clocktower, or head to Blue Town, a small Village just past Sheerness. This village is full of history, and is home to the Criterion Blue Town, a heritage centre, music hall and cinema, which runs events and tours throughout the year.
Shopping
Sheerness has a small high street, offering a variety of shops – both local and large businesses. There is also a newly developed retail park in Queenborough, Neat’s Court, which consists of the larger retailers for all your needs.
Entertainment
Every Summer, Sheppey hosts a carnival and fun fair in Sheerness town centre. In the evening, there is a firework display free for everyone to enjoy at Sheerness beach. The Leysdown Promenade also boasts a wide range of facilities, such as a playground, many arcades, cafes, shops and funfair rides. Leysdown also has some stunning beach views.
Dining
Sheppey is home to many different yet amazing cafes, pubs and restaurants offering food to suit your every craving. The College is next door to the High Street, which has a great selection of food choices.
Island Cruises
If you’re feeling adventurous, you could take a boat cruise around the waters of Sheppey and find out information about the Dockyard, Montgomery and maybe even see some seals swim by.
