Balancing College with everything else in your life can feel overwhelming, especially when you’ve got friends to chill with, TikTok to scroll, and deadlines to meet.
No need to worry as we’ve got you covered.
Here are some top tips, inspired by our students, to help you juggle College and life so you can enjoy the best that both have to offer.
Make your schedule enjoyable and fill it with fun activities
Finding ways to incorporate enjoyable activities into your schedule can make a huge difference. Engaging in extra-curricular activities helps with stress and will also clear your mind. This means you’ll have a more positive mindset and be able to focus better when in lessons.
Level 2 Public Services student, Shane, says: “The best bit about the course is definitely all of the practical activities we get to take part in. We do regular drills, go to FiitBox, and even got the chance to go to Ninja Warrior. They’re really fun but are also helping to prepare me for the future.”
Seek out additional support when you need it
To have a good balance between College and your personal life, it is crucial you can manage your time and responsibilities. At College all of the staff are here to support you with anything you need, so don’t be afraid to reach out to staff if you are finding it all a little overwhelming. If in doubt, ask your Lecturer and they will be happy to help.
Gemma, a Level 3 Hairdressing student, recommends seeking out support to build your confidence. “My Hairdressing Lecturer Jess is a teacher that makes you feel so comfortable. It’s been great to build my confidence and now have a skill that I can walk out of here with.”
Joanne, who is studying Early Years, encourages you to make the most of the College’s Support Services, saying: “Thanks to College, I was able to gain interview skills and feel confident before the big day, which made me feel less pressured and less nervous. I left my interview for the Nursery feeling confident and feeling like I’d nailed it.”
Enjoy the creative freedom that College provides
At College you have the freedom to be creative. Incorporating creativity into your work can allow you to find new ways to study. When your coursework aligns with your interests, it can motivate you to balance your responsibilities better.
You can explore your creative potential across all of our courses at EKC Sheppey College. Martin, who studies Level 2 Creative Media says: “I’m definitely enjoying how creative I get to be. We have to use lots of different sets of skills, like when we make websites.”
Learn from unique experiences
Take advantage of any unique opportunities that life can bring, such as trips and workshops. Jack, a Level 2 Business student, said: “The trips we’ve been on have been good. We went to Bluewater shopping centre which helped me learn about what different shops do in the area, and what it’s like to be part of a big business.”
Engaging in real-world experiences can help you focus your goals and find balance between study and life.
Balancing College and life might feel tricky, but with these tips inspired by our students’ experiences, you can handle it like.
