Pasha is the Student Experience Officer at EKC Sheppey College. She oversees the Students’ Union and ensures that all students have a great time during their studies with fun activities and events.
How did you become Sheppey’s Student Experience Officer?
Growing up, I used to study at EKC Canterbury College and became the Students’ Union President there. Once I finished College I then went to university. I ended up building a career in management and visual merchandising for fashion but I wanted a career change that felt more rewarding.
Due to this I started a role in student experience, doing just over a year as part of the team at Canterbury Christ Church University before going on maternity as I fell pregnant with twins.
I have always lived on Sheppey (apart from my time at university) so when the role for Student Experience Officer at EKC Sheppey College came up I jumped at the chance.
What would you like to do in your role in the next year?
My goal is always to engage with as many students as possible. I will be working hard to continue to support our course reps to represent our students and encourage them to use their voices to make real change here at the College.
I also love to plan out our yearly calendar with exciting events, trips and talks to give students experiences that they will remember for years to come when they finish.
What advice would you give a new student?
I would say that all students at College should use their voice and ensure that their experience at College is what they want it to be. Our course reps and Students’ Union members take everyone’s views into consideration when we discuss upcoming events or activities so make your voice heard.
Where can students find you in College?
I’m always out and about hosting events in the College or doing student experience reviews to see how we can keep working hard to ensure EKC Sheppey College is a better place every year. Sometimes I can even be found decorating the College for seasonal events, but normally I’ll be inside the Hub by Reception with the College Services team.
What are your interests outside of College?
Outside of work I am an avid baker and a mum to two energetic toddlers. I love all things seasonal and Halloween and Christmas are my favourite times of year so I tend to go all out both in work and outside work.
