Our Campus was transformed into a festival-inspired celebration this week, as students and staff came together for ‘Shep-Ella’, this year’s Celebration Day at EKC Sheppey College.
Inspired by the atmosphere of iconic music festivals such as Coachella, ‘Shep-Ella’ brought the College community together to recognise everything students have achieved throughout the academic year whilst enjoying an afternoon packed with entertainment, food and fun.
With music from a DJ creating the perfect festival soundtrack, students made the most of the celebration by posing with friends in the photo booth, getting creative with face painting and enjoying complimentary popcorn, pizza, burgers and hotdogs.
The event gave students the opportunity to celebrate not only their achievements in the classroom, but also the friendships, confidence and experiences they have gained during their time at College.
For Junior College student, Cassy, it was her first year at College, and she has loved the difference in the environment compared to school.
She said of her experience: “I decided to come here just to get a fresh start, to start from the beginning and make a change. I think my favourite part of this year has been having a smaller group. You get more time to have one-to-one with a teacher. Today’s been lots of fun at the celebration day and it’s nice to party with my friends.”
One of the highlights of the afternoon was the friendly Staff vs Students pool challenge, where competitors went head-to-head around the pool table in a series of entertaining matches. With plenty of cheering from the sidelines, the games gave students and staff the chance to enjoy some healthy competition.
The festival spirit continued throughout the day, and there was something for everyone to enjoy, making ‘Shep-Ella’ the perfect way to celebrate the end of another successful year.
