The Isle of Sheppey offers a variety of activities that are perfect for enjoying with your children.

From a wide range of Outdoor Activities such as beaches and nature reserves, to walking and cycling routes, there’s plenty of fun to be had on the Island. Here are some ideas to make the most of your summertime on the island. 

Beaches 

Explore the Beaches such as Minster Leas Beach; a great spot for swimming, building sandcastles, and having a picnic or Leysdown Beach; known for its sandy shores and shallow waters, it’s perfect for younger children. 

Nature Walks and Wildlife 

For a day in nature, why not visit the Elmley National Nature Reserve?

This reserve offers guided walks, wildlife spotting, and stunning landscapes. Kids can see birds, hares, and other wildlife up close, making it a fun filled day in nature.  

Walking and Cycling Trails 

The Isle of Sheppey has numerous family-friendly cycling and walking trails.

Embark on the Sheerness Way Route to experience all that Sheerness has to offer with opportunities to explore the local attractions such at Barton’s Point Coastal Park, Sheerness Beach on the Blue Town Heritage centre.

The Isle of Harty Trail is particularly popular, which offers a tranquil, traffic free route. This makes it the perfect day out to explore the beautiful views of the countryside and coastline. 

Leysdown on Sea 

For a fun filled day, head down to Leysdown on Sea.

Besides being by the beach, you can find playgrounds, ice cream parlours, fish and chip restaurants and amusement arcades for hours of entertainment for everyone.

You can also find 18 Hole Mini Golf featuring a variety of creative obstacle courses, which are fun for all the family.
