We're committed to helping every student succeed, both in and out of the classroom. Take a look at the wide range of help available throughout your time at College.

Starting College is an exciting step, but it can also come with new challenges. Whether you’re settling into a new routine, planning your next steps or simply need someone to talk to, you don’t have to do it alone.

At EKC Sheppey College, we’re committed to helping every student succeed, both in and out of the classroom. Take a look at the wide range of help available throughout your time with us:

Academic support

Our support is designed to help you stay on track, build confidence and achieve your goals. As a student, you’ll have access to:

  • Student Progression Mentors who can help you settle into College life, improve your organisational skills and overcome challenges
  • Regular tutorials to review your progress, set goals and celebrate your achievements
  • Additional learning support for students who may need extra help with their learning, including support for needs such as dyslexia and other learning difficulties

Wellbeing support

Your wellbeing is just as important as your education. If you ever need extra support, we’re here to help. You’ll have access to:

  • One-to-one counselling in a safe and confidential environment
  • Dedicated wellbeing spaces where you can take time out when you need it
  • Mentors and safeguarding officers who are available to offer advice and support
  • Workshops and guest speakers covering topics such as mental health, resilience and personal wellbeing

Careers advice

Your time at College is also about preparing for what comes next. Our Careers Team can help you make informed decisions about your future, whether you’re continuing your studies, looking for work or exploring other options. You can get support with:

  • Choosing the right course and making sure your programme is the right fit for your goals
  • Planning your next steps, including university, Apprenticeships, employment and further study
  • Finding part-time work, including advice on searching for opportunities, writing CVs and preparing to apply
  • Applications and interviews, helping you build the skills and confidence you need to take your next step

Financial support

We know that studying can come with costs – whether that’s course fees, travel to College or even course uniform, so financial support is available for eligible students.

Depending on your circumstances, you could receive:

  • Bursary funding to help with the costs of studying
  • Travel support for eligible students travelling to and from College
  • Free College Meals if you meet the eligibility criteria

To give your application the best chance of success, make sure you apply early and provide the correct supporting evidence, as some funding is limited.
