The student centre was a hive of activity today as we held our annual Celebration Day, bringing staff and students together to celebrate all the achievements made this academic year.
Our Student Experience Officer, Pasha, focused on making the event bigger and better than ever. With help from other members of staff, she transformed the Student Centre and reception area of the College into the perfect party space.

Smiling throughout the event, students took full advantage of the lively atmosphere. They enjoyed the upbeat tunes from DJ Joshua, capturing memories by striking poses in the photo booth, and indulged in pizza and delicious cakes.
Progression student, Jessica, showed off her dance moves throughout the celebration. Jessica explained that she has really enjoyed College this year and she is looking forward to starting the Business Enterprise, Administration and Communications course in September.
When asked about the best thing that has happened at College this year, Jessica commented: “I would say actually getting into College and being able to make friends that I really like, I now spend time with people who really understand me.”

Celebration Day gave the students finishing their course and leaving College time to reflect on their time with us at EKC Sheppey College and think about how much they have grown.
Amid the celebrations, we spoke with Katie as she reflected on her time at College: “I have enjoyed my time at College, I now feel ready to get a full-time job. I definitely want to work with children, I enjoy working with the really little ones.
“During my College work placement, I worked at a nursery and learnt many new skills, such as communicating with the children and planning activities for them. Over the summer I will be looking for full time jobs and applying to nurseries.
“The best part of College has been the experience, I have made so many friends and there is so much more freedom than school. The teachers are really supportive and helpful.”
Katie plans to get a full-time job in a nursery utilising the skills she learnt during her time on her Early Year Practitioner course.

The event also gave students a chance to recognise and thank staff for their dedication and the positive environment they create at the College. Students voted for staff members to receive awards, which were presented during the celebration by the SU President, Libby.
Libby praised all the staff for consistently making time for students, showing genuine care, and inspiring everyone to strive for their best.
